In it for the long run: Woman runs 35 marathons in 35 days in fundraising challenge
She wanted to do something to help when a friend’s daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

But sports therapist Amy Hughes went farther than most… much farther… and smashed a world record by running 35 marathons in 35 cities in 35 days.
The 26-year-old eclipsed the previous best of 17 set by American Parvaneh Moayedi in Texas last year. Now, she is setting her sights on the men’s mark by continuing her streak until it hits 53.                                      By doing so, she hopes to raise £53,000 for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, which raises awareness of the early diagnosis of brain tumours in children and young adults.
‘The charity is close to my heart because a friend’s daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour and it helps support families like hers,’ said Ms Hughes, of Oswestry, Shropshire.
‘No.35 was in Plymouth – I crawled and cried round it but finished on a high. I feel like I’m achieving what I set out to do – raising money for an amazing cause and inspiring people to get up and be active.’
